On Thursday, November 28th, 2024, at 08:48 hours, the Purchase/Port Chester Fire Departments along with PC/RB EMS were dispatched to a MVA with multiple people trapped on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
As units approached the scene a civilian reported a vehicle had left the roadway and was down in a wooded area. Firefighters made their way down to the vehicle and began stabilization and extrication operations. Simultaneously, additional crews began to set up a low angle rope rescue system in preparation for removal up to the roadway. With the teamwork and coordination of units operating, the patient was extricated and removed from the wooded area. The injured party was transported to a local hospital by Port Chester/Rye Brook EMS.
All units returned to service at 10am after the vehicle was removed up to the roadway.
