It has been a remarkable week for the Purchase Fire Department. Over the last 7 days we have responded to over 35 calls of service. Most of these alarms were Mutual Aid requests from neighboring Fire Departments. Mutual aid is a critical component of the fire service where we receive and give mutual aid to nearby Fire Departments. We participated in numerous multiple alarm events throughout the Lower Hudson Valley in this short time.
Below are some of the notable calls that we had responded to.
•Fire at SUNY Purchase College •Mutual aid Engine to Armonk for a brush fire •Mutual aid Engine to Rockland County to the West Nyack for station coverage •Mutual aid Engines/Ladder to Port Chester for multiple buildings on fire •Mutual aid Engine to the City of White Plains for coverage •(3) Structural Related Fires in Harrison •Response to the Westchester County Airport for a plane in distress
We would like to thank the Ardsley Fire Department, Millwood Fire and Yorktown Heights Volunteer FD for providing coverage at some point during the day yesterday while over 15 Purchase firefighters and three of our rigs operated at multiple alarm fire in downtown Port Chester.
