The Purchase Fire Department is excited to announce our latest apparatus order. Rescue 30 will soon be replaced by a Seagrave tandem axle Walk-In Rescue. Our committee has worked hard over the past 12 months to design each detail of this vehicle so it can best serve the residents of Purchase and our surrounding communities.
The new Rescue 30 will be the first walk-in style unit in our department. This design has additional compartment space to allow for proper mounting and organization of equipment added since our last delivered in 2004. The walk-in body will also have a countertop dedicated for command duty for large scale incidents. The standing room and bench area will also be utilized for a rehabilitation area during inclement weather.
Enhancing our capabilities in vehicle extrication, technical and water rescue, and spill mitigation were top priorities for the committee as well. Some options to improve these include:
• Anchor points on all side • Receiver tubes on all sides • 12k front winch • 25k rear winch • Inflatable boat • Full complement of battery and hydraulic extrication tools • Speedy Dry hopper
The Purchase Fire District has seen incredible growth since the first Rescue 30 was put into service in 1981. That coupled with the advances in the fire service in that time has required Rescue 30 to evolve from a GMC and utility body to this tandem axle custom fire apparatus. We look forward to sharing more information about this order in the near future. |
