On April 30 at 11:16 PM, the Purchase Fire Department responded to a reported motor vehicle fire at the intersection of Westchester Avenue and Westchester Park Drive. Car 2413 arrived on scene to find a vehicle fully involved in fire. Engine 241 arrived shortly after and deployed a hand line to extinguish the fire.
Due to the presence of flammable liquids, a foam operation was conducted. During a search of the vehicle, numerous fire-damaged lithium-ion batteries were discovered. The Westchester County Hazmat Team was requested and responded to the scene. Purchase firefighters assisted in containing and securing the batteries.
