| The Purchase Fire Department responded to a total of 70 incidents during the month of February.
It was another busy winter month, as persistent cold temperatures and a late-season blizzard impacted the region. Purchase firefighters handled numerous weather-related emergencies, including water issues caused by frozen pipes, along with over a dozen vehicle accidents throughout the month.
Among the more notable responses was a second-alarm house fire in the Village of Mamaroneck, where our members worked alongside mutual aid departments to bring the incident under control.
Additional significant February responses included:
• (2) Auto extrications
• (2) Motor vehicle fires
• (2) Aircraft standbys
Throughout February, our members remained committed to training. Firefighters participated in multiple hands-on training sessions at our firehouse. Members also attended New York State training programs and county-level courses through the Westchester Weekly Drill Series, further expanding their knowledge and skillsets.
In anticipation of severe winter weather, staffing levels were increased during weather-related standbys to ensure rapid response coverage for the Purchase community. These proactive measures strengthened our ability to respond quickly and effectively when needed most. |
